Financial Aid Offices

Moving is one of the largest projects a family can tackle. Even with good organization, everything in marked boxes, moving companies lined up to do the move, and all other bases covered, some things are bound to slip through the cracks. Extra expenses can arise out of no preparation.

Without organization, life becomes hectic, serious mistakes are made and stress can hinder the process. Keep a moving journal. One section should deal with the finances, another the list of people, companies and government entities to notify of the change, another should deal with moving companies and the first entries should be the to do list and what to move and how to pack.

  • Plan
  • Notify
  • Protect credit
  • Make sound choices
  • Co-ordinate
  • Stay in charge
  • Monitor each step
  • Maintain records and receipts

Lack of Notification Can Create Stress

Notifying all friends, family, businesses, employers, and government is essential to having mail routed to the right address. This should be done at least three days or more before putting in a change of mailing address to the post office. That may mean action should be taken before the move actually happens.
